Medium and high voltage

WE BUY MEDIUM AND HIGH VOLTAGE CABLE

Medium-voltage cable is ordered per project, delivered on a large reel, and often left partly used when a duct run changes. High-voltage cable is rarer, but it does move when a substation or plant project is cancelled.

We buy 5kV, 8kV, 15kV, 25kV, 35kV and 69kV and above cable in Minnesota when it is available: EPR or XLPE insulation, shielded constructions and concentric neutral, on full or partial reels.

What we buy

  • 5kV, 8kV, 15kV, 25kV, 35kV and 69kV and above cable
  • EPR and XLPE insulation systems
  • Shielded cable with tape shield, wire shield or drain wires
  • Concentric neutral and jacketed concentric neutral constructions
  • URD, aerial and duct-rated medium-voltage cable
  • #2 through 1000 MCM, copper and aluminum
  • Full reels and partial reels with documented remaining length

This is the category where documentation matters most. Reel tags, test reports, factory length markings and the jacket print all support a quote, and a partial reel without a reliable length is harder to place.

What to send for a medium-voltage quote

Voltage class, conductor size and metal, insulation type, shield type, jacket type and footage. Add the manufacturer and the reel tag number if it is legible. If the cable has been cut, say whether the end is sealed and photograph it.

Utility and plant projects

Minnesota utilities, co-ops, industrial plants and data centers all hold medium-voltage inventory. When a project is deferred, the cable is often already on site and stored on reels that take up a lane in the yard.

Cancelled and deferred projects are the most common source of this material, and they usually come with paperwork, which helps.

Handling and transport

Medium-voltage reels are heavy and need proper blocking, a forklift or a crane, and a trailer that can carry the weight. Send the reel diameters and an estimate of the weight so the pickup is planned correctly.

If the reel has been stored outdoors for years, photograph the jacketing. Sun exposure on the outer jacket is normal; deep cracking is not.

FAQ

Questions we get from sellers

Do you buy 15kV cable with a cut end?

Sometimes. A cut end needs to be described and photographed, and the remaining footage needs to be supportable. Sealed ends and documented lengths are easier to place.

Is 69kV and above cable in scope?

It is reviewed when it is available, but high-voltage cable is uncommon and each lot is handled individually. Send the details first.

Do you need test reports?

They help. Factory length markings and reel tags are the minimum; test reports and project documentation support a stronger quote.

Send your wire details and photos

Fill in what you know and skip what you do not. Photos of the reel faces, cable tags and jacket printing do more for an accurate quote than a long description.

  • Tell us the metal, gauge or MCM, voltage and conductor count.
  • Give footage, reel count, coil count or weight if it is known.
  • Send photos of reel faces, tags, jacket legends and the full pile.
  • Note dock, forklift or loading limits so pickup goes smoothly.

List all sizes if mixed.
04 Photos and site details
Add up to 10 MB total across all photos. Reel faces, cable tags, jacket printing and the whole pile are the most useful shots.

Submissions go to saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com with your photos attached. You will see a confirmation page once the form is sent. Every lot is reviewed on its details and photos; sending them is not a commitment to sell.

Sitting on reels you will not use?

Send the footage, the voltage and a few photos. We review the inventory, talk pricing and logistics, and arrange pickup or shipping when we agree.
