What we buy
- XHHW and XHHW-2 in copper and aluminum
- #14 AWG through 1000 MCM, solid and stranded
- 600V and 1,000V rated constructions
- Service and feeder sizes: #2, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, 250 through 750 MCM
- Phase colors plus green and bare grounding conductor
- Full reels, partial reels, spools and coils
XHHW is often bought in sets for a single feeder pull, which leaves one or two phase conductors unused when a design changes. Those odd reels are exactly the kind of inventory that sits in a warehouse for years.
Copper or aluminum changes the quote
Aluminum XHHW-2 is common in services and large feeders and is priced against aluminum rather than copper. Photograph the reel tag so the metal is unambiguous, and note whether the strands are compact, compressed or standard. Mixed copper and aluminum loads should be listed separately.

Sunlight, storage and jacket condition
XHHW stored outdoors for years can chalk and fade. That does not automatically make it worthless, but it changes how a lot is priced. Tell us where it has been stored, whether the reels sat on gravel or pavement, and whether the outer wraps are intact.
A photo of the reel face and one of the jacket surface is more useful than a paragraph describing the weather.
Moving it out of Minnesota
Large feeder reels are heavy and need a trailer with proper blocking. If the reels are already on pallets and a forklift is available, pickup is straightforward. If they are on the ground behind a building, say so early so equipment and access can be planned.
FAQ
Questions we get from sellers
Do you buy aluminum XHHW-2?
Yes, aluminum is common in XHHW-2 and we quote it regularly in service and feeder sizes. Send the reel tag and the footage so the quote reflects the right metal.
What size reels can you handle?
Large wooden reels are normal for this product. Tell us the reel diameter and approximate weight if it is known, and confirm whether a forklift or crane is available at the pickup point.
Is 1,000V XHHW treated differently?
It is quoted on the same details as 600V material, but the rating is worth stating. Voltage class is one of the fields on the quote form for exactly this reason.
